"I can literally go from having a Paris Hilton inspired full velour tracksuit kinda day, to more of a Freaky Friday grungy baggy t-shirt and jeans vibe."

North London born and raised, Izzi De Rosa is the latest upcoming British artist to pave their way into the spotlight. With her debut song 'Love & Roulette' going viral overnight on Tiktok, we speak with Izzi about her Y2K influences, Summer wardrobe picks and what next for the rising popstar.

Hey Izzi, can you tell us a bit about what you do and where you are from?

Hii! I’m just going to go ahead and describe myself as a popstar...because that’s the dream! <3 ‘Singer’ sounds a bit underwhelming, if you know what I mean? I’m from North London originally, but currently based in West London, Notting Hill - It kinda feels like i’m in a movie half the time, i love it here :)

How would you describe your sound to a new listener?

I’m strongly influenced by the pop music of the early 2000s, it was so iconic, and I am definitely trying to somewhat bring that energy in my own music. If I was trying to describe my sound in nutshell, it would be uplifting and bubbly with a sprinkle of grungy undertones - the perfect combination of sugar n spice ;)

What artists do you look up to, and who inspires your sound?

Most of my influences come from the early 2000s. If I was too narrow it down to a few artists, I would say the Sugarbabes, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry. They all have this sick combination of crunchy guitars and basslines coupled with sweet pop melodies and synths. I just love it so much, it makes you just wanna get up and dance and scream. I want people to feel that when they listen to my music :).

How does it feel to of already 1 million Spotify streams on your debut track 'Love & Roulette'

Honestly, it’s like a DREAM. I can’t believe it! I never would have expected this response to the song when I wrote it. I was literally sat on zoom with my producer and songwriter, and I was complaining about how Millennial Love is so short-lived because we all have the attention spans of goldfish...(or is that just me?) Anyways, the love the song received has just been unreal and i am so thankful to everyone who has streamed it!!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

My fave current artist is Olivia Rodrigo. She is such a BAD B and is totally bringing back this Rock-Pop vibe that kinda disappeared out of the mainstream. She’s sick and I have a lot of respect for her work ethic.

Are there any specific artists that you would love to collaborate with?

Hmmm… that’s really hard one. This might sound a bit random but I would LOVE to collaborate with will.i.am but as a producer...he produced all the of The Black Eyed Peas albums which are just straight up vibes. I’m not too sure about collaborating with another artist because right now I am just so focused on establishing myself.

How would you describe your fashion style and who influences your style?

My fashion style is kind of just a walking, talking, living and breathing bratz doll. Again, its very much influenced by the late 90s and early 2000s. But the vibe very much depends on my mood, I can literally go from having a Paris Hilton inspired full velour tracksuit kinda day, to more of a  Freaky Friday grungy baggy t-shirt and jeans vibe. Jewellery is also a big thing for me, I loooove beaded necklaces, chokers, pearls and most importantly BIG HOOP EARRINGS!

What are your fave summer wardrobe items right now?

Right now I am LOVING pairing short mini skirts with baggy t-shirts and some clunky buffalo shoes. Plus lots of jewellery, of course. It’s just comfy and cute all at once. If i’m feeling extra saucy I’ll wear a dress under the t-shirt, so I have the option to look a bit more girly girly.

When can we expect to hear more music from you?

All i’m gonna say is keep your eyes peeled on my TikTok, i’ll be teasing a new song very soon ;)
